It is amazing how large results can come from humble beginnings. A number of years ago, a group of Edna Hibel Society members toured the canyons of our Far West. On this trip, as in all her journeys with us, Edna on several occasions painted the scenery. One time in Utah however, Edna decided instead to paint one of our touring members. The resulting oil, frescoe, and gold leaf painting on canvas," Proud to Be a Woman," representing the pride and dignity of women everywhere caught the attention of the national committee of the Susan B. Komen Breast Cancer Foundation responsible for putting together the Race for The Cure held in 80 cities throughout the USA.
